Movie Reviews
Reviews of movie things I've watched.•Back to Reviews Page
Kiki's Delivery Service• 1989 • Hayao Miyazaki• This is a candidate for my favorite movie ever. Delightful in every way, with a quiet depth that sometimes gets overlooked.• Loved It!
Monkey Man • 2024 • Dev Patel • I don't know if I really should have enjoyed it so much, but I was in the mood for it and Dev Patel is a very compelling actor. • Loved It!
My Father, the BTK Killer • 2025 • Skye Borgman • I think I'Il blame all the annoying dreams I had last night on watching this before going to sleep. I do have a ton of sympathy for Kerri Rawson. She didn't deserve the terrible father she had nor the terrible online abuse she subsequently endured just because she was trying to work it all out. • Decent
Small Things Like these • The ending left me with MANY questions, but what an excellent and haunting movie. Cillian Murphy is amazing here and Emily Watson embodies the compassionless preacher of compassion like no other. • Loved It!
The Equalizer 3 • 2023 • Antoine Fuqua • Sometimes you just want to watch crisp, effective killing of bad guys, and Denzel always delivers in spades. I particularly enjoyed watching Marco get stabbed with his own knife he was still holding. • Loved It!
The Fall Guy • 2024 • Yeah, I guess it's kind of dumb, but I really enjoyed it. Ryan Gosling is always good as a guy who has terrible things to do and he just gets on and does what has to be done. And Emily Blunt is always completely her character. Great actors, both. • Loved It!
The Princess Bride 1987 • Rob Reiner • A multiple rewatch, of course, but one of the greatest movies ever. So many classic lines and characters. • Loved It!
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy • 2011 • Tomas Alfredson • They don't make many movies like this anymore. Both intelligently written and yet not overly- wrought with twists and surprises, it's a subtly played movie staring Gary Oldman at his best, but with a stellar cast in general. Highly recommended. • Loved It!
To Live and Die in L.A. 1985 • William Friedkin • Not as good as I remembered. Everyone in this is evil, or an idiot. I didn't buy the transformation of John Vukovich. He didn't earn it. Dafoe is stellar, of course. • Decent
Wick Is Pain • 2025 • Jeffrey Doe • A fun look behind the scenes and lives of the people who made the John Wick movies. Really only these people could have made these movies. • Loved It!
